The Launch Framework That’ll Save Your Sanity

Launching a product or offer? Whether it’s the first time you’re rolling it out, or you’re gearing up towards launch #10, there’s no doubt that a launch can be stressful. But as someone who LOVES systems…I gotta say that a structured approach is the way to go.

I know — sounds like a lot of work. Especially if you’re a creative or someone who is okay with doing things on the fly.

I’ve been in the launch trenches with dozens of clients. I’ve seen first hand what a night and day difference a launch plan can give you. Think: sales, signups, and celebrations…and little to no stress in between.

Okay, so there may still be a few moments where you’ll want to reach for the panic button. That’s normal when you’re in the thick of it. But if you can greatly minimize the amount of stress you experience during a launch…wouldn’t you want to take that?

Cool. I knew you’d agree — now let’s get onto that launch framework.

3 Part Launch Framework: Why it Works

The 3-Phase Launch Framework — with a pre-launch, launch, and post-launch stage — works because it provides a structured, no-fuss approach. Can’t stop wondering if the promo emails were scheduled? Or who should be doing what? Not with this plan.

This framework is going to help you minimize confusion and maximize team performance. Everyone knows what they need to be doing, and when (including you). No one is left to guess, or assume, and things get taken care of when they need to

It also means you avoid week-of launch fires, sleepless nights, and you can focus more on being there for your audience.

Launch Framework Phase 1: Pre-Launch Essentials

You wouldn’t bake a cake without looking to see what ingredients you need (unless you’re a cake-boss level pro. In that case, carry on.) Same goes for launches. Skipping the prep work is a recipe for disaster. Preparation is essential for setting clear expectations, attracting the right audience, and making sure your launch goes smoothly.

If you want to lay a solid foundation for your launch, focus on these key elements:

Define your offer and unique value proposition

Before diving into the specifics, clearly define what you offer and what unique value it brings to your audience. You can’t have a successful launch without knowing this. It’s like trying to bake a cake without flour.

If you can confidently answer these questions, you’re ready to move on to the next step.

Set clear, measurable launch goals

Of course, you want your launch to make money. That’s everyone’s goal, right? But it’s too broad to measure success. One dollar earned could mean that you’ve met your goal, but it doesn’t really do much for your business in the long run.

Plus, when goals are too broad, achieving them can feel impossible. Especially when you’re in the throes of a launch.

Instead. Set SMART goals — specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.

What do you hope to achieve with your launch, and how will you measure your progress? Whether it’s revenue targets, audience growth, or brand awareness, setting clear goals will provide a roadmap as you to track your performance.

Create your launch timeline and milestones

A well-defined timeline is essential for keeping your launch on track. When you skip this step, too much is left like an open-ended question. “There’s no due date, so I’ll get to it when I can” becomes the mantra. (And we all know “getting to it when you can” is code word for never.)

Break down your launch into smaller milestones, assigning deadlines and responsibilities to each task. A project management system can help you organize tasks, track progress, and collaborate with your team so everyone’s on the same page.

Technical Setup

Trust me — this is one thing you want to have ironed out BEFORE your launch goes live. Making sure your tech is running effectively includes:

  • Landing page and sales page creation
  • Email sequences scheduled
  • Payment processing setup
  • Checking links
  • Tech stack testing and troubleshooting

And a lot more. Honestly, the best thing you can do is just to test ALL of it. It’s daunting, but it will save you from having to put out a lot of fires.

Team Delegation

Communication is key for launch success. Clearly define the roles and responsibilities of each team member involved in the launch, and keep them in the loop at all stages.

Because when it comes to a launch, it’s better to have too much information than not enough. It also eliminates time spent being your team’s human search engine, which is a HUGE bonus for you, CEO.

Launch Framework Phase 2: Launch Essentials (Launch Week)

We’re live! While this phase can be exhilarating, it’s also prone to chaos and unexpected challenges. Unless you have a good launch plan, of course!

Customer support systems

Providing quality customer support is essential for creating a positive launch experience and building long-term relationships. Implement systems to handle customer inquiries, resolve technical issues, and address any concerns ASAP.

This might include setting up a dedicated email address, using a help desk platform, or assigning team members to monitor social media channels/inboxes for feedback or questions.

Technical issue guidelines

Despite your best efforts, technical glitches can occur during the launch week. That’s just life. However, if you have guidelinesl in place for when these slip ups occur, you can save your launch from what feels like certain doom!

Develop guidelines for identifying, addressing, and resolving technical issues quickly. This may involve having a dedicated tech support team, establishing a system for reporting and tracking issues, and creating backup plans.

It all just depends on what and how you’re launching. But whatever you do…have a plan!

Daily team check-ins and adjustments

Hold daily check-ins with your team to monitor progress, identify any roadblocks, and make necessary adjustments. These meetings provide an opportunity to share updates, discuss challenges, and keep everyone on the same page.

This doesn’t have to be a Zoom meeting or phone call. You can also do it over Voxer or Slack with a simple check-in message!

Tracking performance and conversions

Throughout the launch week, closely monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and conversion rates to gauge the effectiveness of your efforts. Track metrics such as website traffic, email open rates, sales conversions, and customer engagement. Analyzing this data will provide valuable insights into what’s working well and where adjustments may be needed.

While you may not be able to make massive pivots mid-launch, small adjustments can optimize your results.

Launch Framework Phase 3: Post-Launch Essentials

Launches don’t stop when the cart closes! This phase is all about nurturing new customers, analyzing results, and planning for the next launch.

New Customer Onboarding

The onboarding process sets the tone for your relationship with new customers, clients, or students, and plays a significant role in long-term retention. So, do you have a welcome plan in place?

I don’t just mean an email sequence. Do folks have the proper resources to start their experience with you on the right foot? Are you setting them up for success?

For one of my clients, this looks like a welcome guide PDF, a welcome email sequence for new members, and plenty of walkthrough tutorials in the member’s “hub” so members can find things when they need them.

Launch Analysis

After the launch, take time to analyze your results, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement while your mind is still fresh!

  • Key metrics to evaluate: Review key metrics such as revenue growth, profit margins, ad spend performance, and return on investment (ROI) to assess the financial impact of your launch.
  • Comparing results against goals: How did launch results stack up against your goals? Did you meet your targets for revenue, audience growth, brand awareness, etc.? Identifying any shortfalls will help you understand where to focus your efforts during the next one!
  • Ask for feedback: Feedback, whether it’s from your clients, customers, or team, is a great way to identify gaps in your messaging, systems, tech, and overall launch.
  • Identifying improvement opportunities: Based on your analysis and customer feedback, identify opportunities to improve your launch strategy. What worked well, and what could be done better? These insights will help you refine your approach!
